Wedding Bells – A Brides Story !

Wedding Bells – A Brides Story !

Published by TrendPrive Magazine

I think I confused all my friends, as I got married a year ago with a beautiful civil ceremony at our home and decided to have my wedding reception this January, almost a year later! I was quite against all the glam and show and wanted to keep things simple, however, that didn’t really seem realistic (Indian Weddings!), so I included a Buddhist wedding in the series of ceremonies, as that was the one thing I truly wanted. I chose this very quiet, a peaceful venue in Mumbai, overlooking the Arabian sea and the only décor I wanted were flowers and candles. Sometimes being simple and sustainable can glam the place up to a level no one would expect and it was stunning. Whilst we did a “sake ceremony” and exchanged rings, the sunset, the sky changed colors and nature gave us its own decor. The setting and ambiance could not have been prettier. My gown too was something I picked off the rack in San Francisco last year and then I worked and worked on it, till it was filled with beads and fit me perfectly, zero waste techniques coming to use there! All in all, I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day!

Have a Clean Winter!

March 21, 2019|AWESOME STORIES, ENVIRONMENTAL, GLOBAL

This winter, I am in India and normally, it’s never really woolly weather here, however, this year has had its days! Along with my usual treks to the outskirts of Mumbai, I went a little farther this time, for a weekend of strawberry picking and thought that it was the ideal place to take my new winter gear, sent to me by a range of amazing brands.

I have always dabbled in yoga, but last month I decided to challenge myself and practice yoga everyday. I did of course need help with this and since I had just moved to a new country, I decided to take advantage of YouTube. I followed the Yoga challenge with Adrian– a 30-day challenge that I would recommend to anyone who has or has not done Yoga before.

February 18, 2019
IMAGE 4 TONLE & KIPATO

Getting married is always an adventure, I have always been on the other side of it, making custom made wedding outfits for brides, but somehow for my own wedding things went the other way, and I found it really difficult to find elements to have a SUSTAINABLE and SLOW wedding! I decided to take a plunge into researching on how to have a sustainable wedding. There are so many things to take into consideration from non-toxic makeup and hair products to sustainable clothing! I blog about a lot of ethical brands and a couple of these just stood out for and are perfect for those sourcing for an ethical wedding for the bride, brides maid or even a wedding guest. Read More…

PACKING FOR SUSTAINABLE TRAVEL

February 18, 2019

Approximately four years ago I was introduced to a practice called Nichiren Buddhism, wherein all the members pray for world peace. This practice works on the law of cause and effect –i.e. what you give, you get and what you sow, you reap! It included a lot of self-reflection and expressed that the only change one has to make, is to change you. Even though these changes were all very positive, it was difficult especially when I had to go out of my comfort zone. Read More…

ORGANIC BLOOM

June 29, 2017

With each passing year, couture’s well documented obsession with organic French-girl style has only evolved. When we first discovered that fashion is the second most polluting industry in the world, we knew that something had to change.
Fashion with a purpose, styles that are sustainable. Our mission is to create garments in an ethical manner by paying our workers a fair wage, designing garments that are chic, stylish yet wearable, and using natural fibers throughout the collection.
We have launched a limited-edition, 26-piece capsule collection — including corset dresses, cocktail gowns, ruffled tops, shirt blouses and asymmetrical skirts.
This collection is inspired by the French post-impressionist era, especially cubism, in stressing the structural elements latent in nature. One of my favorite piece is the ROSE dress which is quite literally made up of waste fabric. One hundred and fifteen roses were constructed to create the skirt of this corset dress !

HILLSIDE BEAUTY

I finished my day at Parsons, ISDI Mumbai, where I teach a Fashion styling course on Saturdays and was extremely eager to head out to my next destination. I had not only researched the accommodation before but also heard a lot of positive things about it, so I was pretty excited to check it out! My boyfriend, who is always on time, was waiting at the school for me and we took off from Mumbai at around 4.30 pm. It was a three and a half hour drive but the view on the way was absolutely spectacular. These resorts in Lonavala, Amby Valley and Khandala are not called hill retreats for no reason. This place though – Hotel Hilton at Shillim, was about an hour further from Amby Valley, amidst the Western Ghats, which is accredited to be a world heritage site by UNESCO – who believe in living in harmony with nature rather than disturbing it. Luckily for us we caught the sunset on the way there as well!!
